A PUBLIC PLACE!
Since November 2005 Frankfurt Art Bar is a new Pub in Frankfurt. It is part of "Die Druckerei", which is an old unused printer's, which has been converted into artist's space and of course a bar.
Frankfurt Art Bar or FAB, as we call it, is an integral part of "Die Druckerei" which, is a collective project involving four Artists Ateliers, two Workshops, a Balinese Furniture Showroom and two apartments.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
The idea of FAB is to provide you with a place to go and meet friends you haven't yet met. It's function is also to provide a collective creative place for writers, visual artists, musicians and thinkers to meet, swap ideas and to turn new concepts and thought forms into creative actions. It is a house of doing.
With the support of the in-house artists, we intend to reach out to the creative talent that this city has rumbling under it's foundations and bring that energy together like underground rivers meeting and splashing together before finding their way forward. It is out of this creative chaos or turmoil that FAB will find its food. There is a railway line running right beside it bringing a constant flow of new ideas and carting the old ideas away to a new home. It is a house of flowing energy and your creative ideas make that river flow.
Since FAB opened it has become a meeting place for musicians who swap their thoughts, ideas & knowledge and offer each other a helping hand. We are happy to provide them with a second home.
SOCIAL TUB.
We wish to work together with the community in which we exist, and work on projects with other ateliers and artists but also with schools, businesses, government offices, hospitals and organisations in the neighbourhood. We intend to be of service to the area of the city that we occupy.
So far we have not made fantastic progress in this direction but we have managed two very interesting and worthwhile projects with the wider community. The first of which was a collaborative project with Atelier Goldstein and one of our in-house artists
Steve Valk, which resulted in an exhibition with the Atelier Goldstein Artist Birgit Ziegert. We are extremely thankful to everyone at Goldstein especially Christiane Cuticchio, Liz Coleman and Melanie for making this project happen, and we would like to extend a very special thanks to Birgit Ziegert for coming and painting one of our rooms which is now a permanent installation. Also thanks to Steve Valk for being the initiator and mediator of the project. www.atelier-goldstein.de

Our second collaborative work with the wider community happened in summer 2006 when a group of school kids and students of varying age came from the International School Frankfurt (known as ISF) Sindlingen and did an outside street Art exhibition of chalk drawings. 18 people did drawings in several different styles under the leadership of Art Teacher Rodney Richards. It was a fun event and it was great to see the enthusiasm with which the work was carried out. Super motivated would be the mild description. We are very thankful to ISF and most of all to Rodney Richards for making it happen. www.isf-net.de
It has always been our intention to work with the wider public in and around the city and as mentioned above so far we have managed just two projects but Rome wasn't built in a day. We are looking forward to more of these in the future.

2 AVOID CONFUSION.
If you think that the Art Bar is some kind of an elitist exclusive artists club, that you could never be part of or never feel at home in, then think again. We are non hierarchal, inclusive people who want to push for a more creative world for us all. We welcome those who are not practising artists as much as anyone.
GREGORIAN.
You could also say that FAB is a mixture of a Kleinkunstbühne, a jazz club, an open stage space, a folk club and a wine bar as well and you would be right. It is many things under one roof. To make a weekly rhythm, there are different events on different nights acting as anchors to the weekly calendar.
NURTURE.
It is our intention, whenever possible, to work with local wine and beer producers, as well as small local food producers/suppliers. We want to try and provide both you and us with local trustable taste. We have all seen over time, that the small local producer's products can be relied upon to satisfy when it comes to quality, and that quality has not been sacrificed in order to compete with lower standard imported products.
